Carryn Whiteford, CPA

Audit Partner

Carryn Whiteford is an audit partner at BNKJ. Bringing close to two decades of experience to her role, Carryn’s specialties include providing auditing, accounting and advisory services. Her focus is on serving multinational, international and privately held businesses, most notably in the manufacturing, distribution, technology, real estate and employee benefit plan industries.

Carryn is involved in managing several of BNKJ’s largest audit engagements and in performing technical research on accounting and auditing issues specifically related to each client’s industry. She also consults with clients regarding other business matters unique to the industry, as well as emerging audit regulations and issues that may affect BNKJ’s clients. She adds value by looking for ways to improve controls and operational efficiencies.

In addition, as part of BNKJ’s internal mentoring and professional development program, Carryn serves as a mentor to several women professionals in the office, and she represents the firm in several professional women organizations. Carryn is also co-chair of BNKJ’s newly formed Women’s Initiative Network (“WIN”), which promotes, enhances and enriches the lives and careers of women at BNKJ and in our communities.

Before joining the BNKJ team Carryn held an audit manager role at Deloitte & Touche, LLP. Her responsibilities there included managing multiple engagement teams; reviewing and evaluating financial data, business processes and internal controls; and researching and evaluating the impact of emerging accounting pronouncements and building relationships with new and existing clients.

Born and raised in Durban, South Africa, Carryn always loved math and accounting in school and graduated at the top of her class from elementary through high school. She attended the University of Natal, South Africa, where she earned accounting and honors degrees. After coming to the U.S., she became a CPA licensed in Georgia.

She enjoys the opportunity to learn new things in her profession and is a member of the AICPA and the Georgia Society of CPAs.

Now a resident of East Cobb, Carryn serves as the treasurer of her homeowners association. She and her husband have a son and two daughters who are active in sports. In her free time, Carryn enjoys cooking, reading, watching her children’s sports events and helping to support their respective organizations.
