Most of Howard’s clients have been with him for many years. In the process of serving their needs, he has built a strong niche in the varied industries they represent, including retail and distribution, healthcare, insurance, legal, architectural, engineering, manufacturing, publishing and not for profit.
In addition to traditional accounting services, Howard serves as a confidant and close business advisor to his clients, immersing himself in their businesses and helping them with whatever they need to be successful, whether he’s helping them select a board of trustees, manage operations, control inventory, set up internal controls, or find the right specialist to help with a specific project or issue.
The comprehensive tax and business consulting services that Howard provides for family and closely held business clients at BNKJ are recognized nationally. He has been included in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s list of Who’s Who in Finance many times and was awarded The Family Firm Institute’s “Fellow Status in Family Business Advising.” Every year since 2009, Howard has been listed in the top 5% of America’s Most Honored Accounting Professionals by The American Registry, as published by Atlanta Magazine.
Howard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA), serving on many national management services consulting committees with the AICPA and as a past chairman of the GSCPA’s Management Services Committee.
A recognized author, Howard has published articles with the Management Consulting Division of the AICPA, and also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Kennesaw State University School of Accounting. He has been a speaker and contributing writer on behalf of several organizations, trade, industry and client publications, including Kennesaw State University’s Family Business Forum.
As a 1964 graduate of the University of Georgia, Howard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
Howard lives with his wife in Sandy Springs, He enjoys jogging and being outdoors, and plays golf regularly at the Standard Club and around town.
